WIZARDS OF WORDS

Wizards of Words (WoW) is a paired literacy improvement programme for children in first and second class in St Brigid’s JNS, involving older volunteers. This intergenerational programme model is based on US research of the Experience Corps programme which has demonstrated positive outcomes for children’s reading ability and for the volunteers too.

​

For over ten years, St Brigid’s have been blessed to have the same group of amazing volunteers.  The children thoroughly enjoy spending time with the volunteers and getting to know them, with the added bonus of improving their reading skills.
